Competition Rules
1. Entries are invited from Musicians studying any instrument/voice.
2. You should be aged 18 years or under on 30th April 2010. (Past winners of the first prize are not eligible to enter the competition again.)
3. Minimum requirement is Grade VI standard (Associated Board or equivalent).
4. From those taking part in the Preliminary Rounds and regardless of age, eight finalists are chosen. The decision is made exclusively according to the competitor’s performance and potential.
5. A maximum of two pieces may be played in the Heats. They must not exceed five minutes in total.
6. The piece(s) played at the Final must not exceed twelve minutes in total.
7. Competitors will be expected to play different music in the Final from that which is played in the Heats. Competitors must provide a copy of their music for the Adjudicators on each occasion.
8. Competitors may provide their own accompanist or one may be provided at the competitor’s expense. The fee is £50, payable direct to the accompanist. A further fee will be requested should the competitor reach the final.
9. Entry fee for the 2010 Competition is £10.
